8 Passengers detained for 'smuggling-in' electronic goods

Kolkata, May 10 (UNI) Customs officials of the NSCBI airport today detained eight passengers who were found possessing electronic goods without any valid import documents.

The passengers, who had arrived from Bangkok on a Jet Airways flight, were trying to smuggle in electronic goods, mainly computer chips, worth several lakhs of rupees, customs officials here said.

Yesterday, the officials had similarly detained three youths with electronic goods worth Rs 15 lakhs after their arrival from Bangkok. They too had failed to produce valid documents.
