2 MSU students arrested for 'hurting public sentiments'

Vadodara, May 10 (UNI) Two fine arts students of M S University were arrested by police today for crafting nude statues of Durga, Vishnu and Christ and placing it on a public exhibition in the campus.

Final year students C Chandramohan (graphics dept) and Venkatesh were arrested on a complaint from a VHP member and an advocate Neeraj Jain on grounds of ''hurting public sentiments''.

One person had crafted a wooden idol of Durga Mata in an undressed shape, while the other had crafted similar wooden idols of Vishnu and Christ.

Commenting on the issue, Vadodara Municipal Corporation Mayor Sunil Solanki said both the students need to be rusticated.
