Young farmer commits suicide
Bidar, Karnataka, May 9 (UNI) A 25-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide at Rakshl(K) Village in Karnataka last evening, police said today.
Police said Bajirao Venkata Rao Nittur had cultivated jawar by raising a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh from various financial institutions and individuals.
The crop failed due to lack of water and unable to clear the debts Nittur took the extreme step.
Earlier, a sugar cane farmer Basavaraj Siddappa, 45, committed suicide at Narayanapur village in Gulbarga district on April 29 as a sugar factory failed to lift the cane produced by him.
