Yogi for central rule in UP, against BJP tie-up
Varanasi, May 9: Firebrand BJP MP Yogi Adityanath today called forimposition of president's rule in Uttar Pradesh in case of a fracturedmandate in the just concluded Uttar Pradesh assembly poll.
He also advised the BJP-led alliance not to go for any post poll tie-up if it failed to win majority.
''President's rule should be imposed in UP just after theannouncement of assembly election results on May 11, if no politicalparty or alliance gets majority in the 403-member state assembly,'' theBJP MP and successor to Goraksha Peeth of Gorakhpur told newspersonshere.
''I think UP Governor T V Rajeswar will make an appropriatedecision using his conscience in the event of a hung assembly tomaintain the sanctity of democratic system in the state,'' he added.
The BJP leader took a momentary halt at Varanasi here this afternoon on way to Allahabad.
Advocating president's rule in UP, the Yogi said it is the onlyoption to check horse-trading in event of a fractured mandate from theelectorate.
''Sarkar banane ke liye tod-phod ki rajniti nahi hone deni chahiye,'' he quipped.
Hinting towards a fractured mandate in the assembly poll,Adityanath said ''if the BJP-JD(U)-Apna Dal alliance fails to get amajority on its own, then it should restrain from post poll tie-up withany other party.'' ''Any attempt to cobble up post-poll alliance totaste power will not only bring disgrace to the party, but also provefatal to its future prospects. The BJP leaders should take lessons frompast,'' he added.
The BJP leader was all in praise for the Election Commission forputting the electoral process on the right track by ensuring violencefree election.
He, however, voiced concern over irregularities in voters list.
''EC should also have shown the same degree of sincerity in preparing error-free voter lists,'' he noted.
