Ullal by-election: No nominations filed on second day

Mangalore, May 9 (UNI) No nominations were filed on the second day for the June 2 by-election to the Ullal assembly seat in Karnataka.

The last day for filing the nominations is May 15. The scrutiny would take place on May 16 and last date for withdrawal of nominations is May 18.

The counting would be held on June 5.

The seat had fallen vacant due to the death of sitting Congress Legislator U T Fareed.

While Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced Chandrashekhar Uchil, the defeated candidate in the 2004 election, as the party's nominee, the CPI(M) named Balakrishna Shetty as its candidate.
