Record breaking pilgrims expected at Karori Mela
Mathura, May 9 (UNI) A large number of pilgrims are likely to converge in the traditional Karori Mela, starting on May 17, to seep in the highly spiritual ambience and enjoy the colour, beauty and often bizarre sights of the Mela, which has a special attraction of its own.
Stating the importance of Karori Mela, Ramanand Ashram, Govardhan general secretary Shankarlal Chaturwedi said the fair is organised every year in 'Adhik Maas' which has a great religious significance.
According to the Hindu mythology, 'Adhik Maas' is also called 'Purushottam Maas' (a month of Lord Krishna). It is believed that the Lord visits the holy city and blesses the devotees. The month is best for performing religious acts, Mr Chaturwedi maintained.
This time, a record breaking rush is expected in the mela, where people would gather to pay obesience to 'Kanhaiya', he added.
However, he lamented there are only ten days left for the mela but the preparations have not yet taken a speed. Even, the district administration is showing a 'lackadaisical' attitude.
DM T N Singh said the services of additional 100 buses would be provided for the convenience of the pilgrims. The entry of private buses and jeeps would be prohibited in the mela area.
A large number of security personnel would be deployed round the clock to counter untoward incident, Mr Singh added.
