Punjab to have transparent policy for mega projects

Chandigarh, May 9 (UNI) To remove bottlenecks in the way of developmental projects, the Punjab government will prepare a consolidated and suitable policy for the housing and industrial mega projects, with transparency been the key factor.

These instructions were given by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to Chief Secretary R I Singh while reviewing the status of mega projects in the state.

Speaking at the meeting Mr Badal said that a transparent government policy for the approval of mega projects was needed to ensure a level playing field to all the prospective industrialists and entrepreneurs.

Some more meetings are likely to follow in order to finalise the procedural criterion for clearances of mega projects.

Mr Badal directed the Principal Secretary, Industries to ensure the completion of requisite formalities for the projects in hand within a fortnight so that the entrepreneurs could go ahead with their projects within stipulated time frame to avoid cost escalation.

Local Bodies and Industries Minister Manoranjan Kalia and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
