Pakistan, Czech Republic sign four MoUs

Islamabad, May 9 (UNI) Pakistan and Czech Republic today signed four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and pledged to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, commercial and diplomatic fields.

The agreements were signed after formal talks between the visiting Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek and his Pakistan counterpart Shaukat Aziz in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Topolanek, who arrived here last night on a three-day visit, said his country wanted to have strong diplomatic presence in Pakistan.

''We have decided to open two honorary consulates in Pakistan in near future,'' Mr Topolanek added.

He described his talks with Mr Aziz as very fruitful and substantive, which focused on important regional and international issues including Afghanistan and Pakistan-India peace process.

Mr Aziz said Pakistan desired peace and stability in the region and friendly relations with all neighbouring countries.

He said Pakistan would boost cooperation with Czech Republic in trade, investment, commercial, health and scientific fields.
