Over one lakh students write CET

Bangalore, May 9 (UNI) More than one lakh students today appeared for Common Entrance Test (CET) for free seats category for professional courses in Government and private institutions for the coming academic year.

The test was held in 205 centres in the state and 59 centres in Bangalore alone. For the first time the test for all subjects was held on a single day. Some students complained that it was too hectic. However, majority of them said this was more convenient.

The government had arrived at a seat-sharing formula and fixed fee structure with private colleges in February this year.

As many as 1900 medical, 800 dental and 27,000 engineering seats are being offered through this mode of admission.

The results would be announced on May 25.

The private colleges too had held Comed-K tests to fill up seats in 'payment seats' on Sunday last.
