Naxalite arms unit busted, Naxal held
Varanasi, May 9 (UNI) Police in the neighbouring Chandauli district today claimed to have unearthed an arms unit of the Naxalites, following the arrest of a Naxal extremist from the Naugarh forest.
Superintendent of Police (Chandauli) Pravin Kumar said Jai Prakash, alias Vishal, an active member of the CPI (Maoist), was arrested after a brief encounter in Aurawa Tand area this afternoon.
Two of his aides, however, managed to escape.
Later, on the basis of information provided by the arrested Naxal, policemen unearthed a tunnel housing an arms unit, close to the border with Bihar.
A stockpile of different barrels , a detonator, 25-meter land-mine wire and a packet containing black-coloured explosive powder was recovered from the tunnel, Mr Kumar added.
The arrested Naxal, hailing from Bhabhua (Bihar), was engaged in making weapons for the Naxalites.
