MPSRTC Chairman, Managing Director summoned

Jabalpur, MP, May 9 (UNI) A Lok Adalat has summoned the Chairman and the Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (MPSRTC) and the Additional Commissioner (Provident Fund) on a petition challenging closing down of the MPSRTC.

Hearing petitions filed by the Madhya Pradesh Transport Works Federation and three others, a division bench comprising Lok Adalat's Presiding Officer Judge Deepak Mishra and senior counsel Prakash Bhave issued the direction and fixed the date of next hearing on May 17.

The petition told the court that the government had decided to shut down the MPSRTC and its employees were being pressurised to take voluntary retirement.

The petition stated the corporation has not made payment of Rs 100 crore towards the Employees' Provident Fund besides other heads of profit.

The petitioner urged the court to issue directions for clearing arrears and depositing Rs 100 crore in the Provident Fund Account of the employees.
