LS adjourned twice over Guj fake encounter issue

New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) Amid noisy scenes over the alleged fake encounters in Gujarat, the Lok Sabha was adjourned twice today.

As soon as the House reassembled after the first adjournment, Congress, Samajwadi Party and RJD members stood up and raised the issue of fake encounters in Gujarat, shouting slogans against the BJP-ruled state government.

However, they were shouted down by BJP members with counter slogans which were not audible in the din prevailing in the House.

When the repeated pleas by Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal to maintain calm failed, he adjourned the House till 1500 hrs.

Earlier, during the Zero Hour, members of the Left parties, Congress, SP and RJD created a furore demanding a CBI inquiry into the killings in fake encounters.

The Speaker pleaded with the members to allow the House to discuss a calling attention motion on Setu Samudram project in Tamil Nadu and promised to give them an opportunity to raise the issue after calling attention, but his appeal was ignored by the members.

The Samajwadi Party members, meanwhile, rushed towards the well of the House. As the BJP members shouted them down and pandemonium prevailed, the Speaker had adjourned the House till 1400 hrs.
