Muradnagar, May 9: The third phase of the ''karvan-e-saathi Sajhi Shahadat-Sajhi Virasat'' rally to commemorate 150 years of India's first war of Independence began here early this morning amidst much fanfare.

Enthusistic students lined up in queues before taking out the march to Ghaziabad from where the final phase of the rally will leave for Delhi tomorrow.

Cheering crowds waved at the rally despite an early morning start and groups of people welcomed the rallyists at various places.

Organisers of the event, however, once again denied media reports that any incident of food poisoning had taken place adding that those who felt uneasy were admitted to the hospital in different phases over a time period of three days from the beginning of the event from Meerut.

''Most of those admitted to the hospital complained of dehydration, vomiting and fatigue and not of food poisoning as reported,'' said a senior official of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sanghathan.

The rally, which is expected to reach Ghaziabad by this afternoon will rest there for the day and begin the final phase of the march from Meerut to Delhi early tomorrow.

However, half of the total strength of the rally had reached Ghaziabad yesterday due to logistic reasons and problem of accomodation.

The Jung-e-Azadi rally will culminate at the historic Lal-Qila on May 11 in celebrations which would be marked by the presence of President A P J Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and NDA chairman Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
