Ist Central Army Commander passes away
Lucknow, May 9 (UNI) First Commander of the Central Army Lt Gen K Bahadur Singh passed away last night at Kota in Rajasthan.
He was 97.
The General is survived by his son Jaivir Singh. The last rites were performed at his native village in Palaitha 40 kms from Kota.
Born in 1910, he recieved the Kings commission into the Indian Army in January 1931. He also served in the Highland Light Infantry at Kanpur and got inducted into 2 Kumaon post independence.
During World War II, Mr Singh was made a prisoner of war in Singapore by the Japanese Forces.
After his retirement in 1967, he was appointed the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
