Increase manpower in BRO: Rijiju

Itanagar, May 9 (UNI) Lok Sabha member Kiren Rijiju has called for augmenting manpower in the Border Roads Organisation(BRO) for serving the people of the Himalayan belt.

While pleading the Defence Ministry for enhancing manpower in the organization, the MP representing the Arunachal Pradesh pointed out that the services rendered by the BRO personnel, particularly in the high altitude region despite shortage of manpower were unparallel, informed official sources here today.

He said that the Himalayan belt was the most difficult terrain and the construction of roads was most challenging. The BRO was the lone organization entrusted with building and maintaining roads in the border areas, which it had been successfully carrying out with dedication, he added. The MP also requested the ministry to provide better recognition to the brave members of the organization, who remained unrecognized since independence, sources added.
