Haryana earmarks Rs 5 cr to maintain monuments

Kaithal, May 9 (UNI) The Haryana government has earmarked Rs five crore to protect and maintain the historical monuments so that the coming generations could know about the state's rich cultural heritage.

This was stated by Minister of State for Cooperation and Archeology Meena Mandal today after visiting three historical places here-- a Bawri of Mughal era, the tomb of Razia Begum and the tomb of Sheikh Tayab.

She issued necessary instructions for the preservation of these old historical monuments.

The Minister said the tomb of Razia Begum would be beautified at a cost of Rs six lakh. Similarly, the Bawri of Mughal era near civil hospital would be renovated at a cost of Rs 1.55 lakh.

She said steps were under way to preserve Mughal historical monuments at Narnaul, Dehra Jain Mandir at Ferozepur Jhirka and the Bhima Devi temple at Pinjore.
