Freescale launches first voice-enabled SOC
Bangalore, May 9 (UNI) Semicon major Freescale today announced the launch of industry's first voice-enabled Gigabit Passive Optical Net (GPON) system on Chip (SOC).
The availability of GPON would make delivery of rich digital content to home and small office via fibre a reality, the company said in a release here.
Engineers at Freescale India's Design Centre played a key role in designing this single, cost-effective chip with a high degree of system integration.
''The multi-core MSC7120 integrates a Power Architecture CPU, a StarCore DSP and a data path engine to deliver a complete PON sub-system in a single device. It addresses high data forwarding through our requirements of several applications, including the delivery of triple play (voice, video and data) broadband services to home or small business," the release said.
