EVMs use challenged in HC
Gwalior, MP, May 9 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court's Gwalior bench today admitted for hearing a petition challenging the election procedure through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the recently-held Lok Sabha by-election in Gwalior constituency.
Judge Subhash Sanvatsar issued notices to BJP MP Yashodhara Raje Scindia, the Election Commission, the Chief Electoral Officer (Madhya Pradesh) and the District Collector in this regard.
In his petition, SP candidate Munnalal Goyal questioned the use of EVMs. He stated that the EVMs could be tampered with and poll results could be affected.
Petitioner's counsel Madhukar Rao said electronically-recorded ballots could be tampered with the collusion of polling centre officials.
