EC verdict against BJP CD case should have come during UP elections

New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxists) polit bureau today said the Election Commission (EC) should have announced its judgement on the controversial CD case against BJP during the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The party, in a press statement issued here, said the EC had directed the BJP to publicly condemn the contents of CD issued by it.

CPI(M), in its representation to the commission, had stated that it is not enough for the BJP to dissociate itself from the CD and that it should publicly apologise and condemn the contents of the CD.

The BJP leadership has to comply with the decision of the EC and issue an unqualified condemnation of the contents of the CD. In case it fails to do so, the EC should take further action, so that the use of communal propaganda and hate campaign during the elections is put to an end, the statement added.
