Debt ridden young farmer commits suicide in Bidar District
Bidar, May 9 (UNI) Farmers taking extreme step in the life due to failure of crop and unable to clear the debt continues in North Karnataka Region as a 25-year-old young farmer committed suicide by consuming pesticide at Rakshl(K) Village in Aurad Taluk of Karnataka last evening.
Police said that Bajirao Venkata Rao Nittur had cultivated jawar by rising Rs 1.5 lakh loan from various financial institutions and individuals. The crop failed due to lack of water and unable to clear the debts Mr Nittur allegedly committed suicide.
It may be recalled here that a sugar cane farmer Basavaraj Siddappa (45) committed suicide at Narayanapur village in Jewargi Taluk in Gulbarga District on April 29 as Sugar factory failed to lift the cane for crushing.
