Hyderabad, May 9 (UNI) The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today criticised the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for its illegal land encroachment agitation in some parts of Andhra Pradesh, saying it was instigating poor people and creating law and order problems.

Addressing a press conference here, State Energy and Coal Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir, accompanied by Backward Classes Welfare Minister Mukesh Goud, said there was no justification in CPI(M)'s agitation as the State Government had taken up housing schemes for the poor people in the state.

He said the government had constructed 19 lakh houses so far and proposed to construct 54 lakh more in the next three years with a view to provide houses to poor people.

Slamming the CPI-M for adopting double standards, he alleged that the party did not open its mouth when the West Bengal government encroached lands belonging to poor people and allocated them to big industrialists. He alleged that the West Bengal Government had not taken up any housing scheme for nearly six lakh poor people who were living on pavements in Kolkata.
