Bailable warrants issued against Chahal
Chandigarh, May 9 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued bailable warrants against former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's media advisor B I S Chahal.
The warrants have been issued as Mr Chahal has failed to appear before the court in connection with a contempt petition pending against him for interfering in judicial process by attempting to influence certain officers.
Mr Chahal is accused of irregularities in the selections and appointments of some persons directly as DSPs in Punjab police under the sports quota. Mr Chahal's son Bikram Inderjit Singh Chahal was among the beneficiaries.
The orders for issuing bailable warrants against Mr Chahal for May 30 were issued by the full bench headed by Chief Justice Vijender Jain to ensure the presence of respondent.
