Agitating teachers arrested
Chennai, May 9 (UNI) Over 200 teachers and hostel wardens, including 25 women who were members of the Tamil Nadu Adidravidar and Adivasigal Welfare Department's Teachers and Wardens Association were taken into custody as they attempted to resort to 'road roko' agitation to draw the state government's attention to their long pending demands.
Provision of incentives for higher studies for the secondary grade teachers and intstituting a special award in the name of Dr Ambedkar were among their demands.
Dalit Panthers Of India (DPI) Joint General Secretary Selvaperunthagai M L A inaugurated the agitation.
