40 kg opium seized in Baran

Jaipur, May 9 (UNI) The police have seized 40 kg of opium and arrested three drug smugglers in Baran district.

According to SP, Baran, Ranjit Singh Dwara, a police team put up special road check-ups on Aklera road near Kalatola village yesterday.

A Bolero jeep, on seeing the check post, turned back making the police suspicious. The police surrounded the vehicle and arrested Ram Singh,30, Kajor, 40 and Hargovind.

On searching, 20 kg of opium was found from Ram Singh, 10 kg from Kajor and 10 kg from Hargovind. The seized drug is worth Rs 40 lakh in the international market, the police said.

Kajor is panchayat head of Manpura village and believed to be involved in opium smuggling with his brother since long.
