US letter is an attack on India's sovereignity: AIFB

New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) Terming the letter from Committee of Foreign Affairs of America an encroachment on sovereignty of India, the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) today strongly condemned the US ''interference'' in the country's domestic and foreign affairs.

In a statement issued here, party's General Secretary and MP Debabrata Biswas said that the language used in a recently written letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by the chairman of the Committee of Foreign Affairs of America, Tom Lantos and six others, is an ''encroachment on our sovereignty and a direct attack on our rights to develop relationship with other friendly countries of our choice''.

''We must make it clear that Indo-US global partnership does not mean India's submission to the dictates of America, particularly when they dare to question our traditional relationship with Iran'', Mr Biswas said.

Under the threat of jeoparadising the Indo-US nuclear deal, the US is trying to pressurise India, the Prime Minister must not deviate from the commitment to categorically convey it to the US President that under no circumstances India is prepared to make any compromise on the question of national honour and integrity and the letter as such must be withdrawn immediately with an apology to the nation, the statement said.
