Two remand prisoners escape from custody

Kancheepuram, May 8: Police have spread a dragnet for two remand prisoners who gave them the slip and escaped from their custody when they were taken to a hotel near the bus stand here yesterday.

According to police the two prisoners, lodged in vellore central prison, were taken to a local court at Tambaram in Kancheepuram district for extention of remand. They were escorted by two constables and a woman armed police from Vellore.

On their return after being produced in the Tambaram court, the two were taken to the hotel when they hoodwinked the three police personnel and slipped away.
