Two awarded death sentence for killing cop

Hisar, May 8 (UNI) A local court today awarded death sentence to two persons for shooting down a policeman on duty about four years ago.

The Additional Sessions judge, Bhiwani, R S Virk ruled that Manoj, resident of Bamla and Vinod of Mithawal be hanged for killing Subhash, the driver of the SHO of the Siwani Mandi police station.

According to the prosecution, the duo had robbed a man of his motorbike in Hisar and were fleeing, when personnel manning a police post in Siwani Mandi tried to stop them.

The two fired indiscriminately at the police team causing fatal bullet injuries to the driver of the Siwani Mandi police station's SHO, official sources here said.
