PM, Sonia visit: SPG IG checks security measures

Chennai, May 8 (UNI) Special Protection Group (SPG) Inspector General of Police A K Singh today inspected the security measures installed at the island ground, where Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are likely to attend a public meeting on May 11.

Both Ms Sonia and Dr Singh are expected to participate in the meeting organised to commemorate Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's 50 years in Assembly.

Later, Mr Singh held a high-level meeting at airport with higher police and CISF officials to discuss the security measures at the airport for VVIPs.

Police said a three-tier security would be posted at the airport from today.
