Manipur to implement agriculture policy
Imphal, May 08 (UNI) The Manipur government is considering formulation of an agriculture policy.
Making a statement in the Assembly during question hour Agriculture Minister Ph Parijat today said that the state lacked such a policy.
He also said the government had provided irrigation facility to about 17.110 hectares of agricultural land, he said.
To another question he said the Khuga multipurpose project at Churachandpur district was expected to be completed soon and so far Rs 291 crores were utilised for the dam construction. The canal is 60 kilometre long.
Mr O.Joy and Th Shyamkumar of the Manipur People's party urged the revenue department to check construction of buildings by private individuals. Their party colleague RK Anand also urged the government to cautiously deal with the acquisition of land near the Tulihal airport, Imphal.
The House also discussed demands for grants for Rs 219 crores for police, Rs 85 lakhs for vigilance, Rs 2.87 crore for fire department, Rs 7.71 crore for jails, Rs 7.77 crore for homeguards and Rs 1 crore for rehabilitation.
