Indian BPO's competing globally, says study

Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) The Indian Buisness Process Outsourcing (BPO) suppliers have achieved critical mass and are now successfully competing with major global suppliers of BPO, according to a study.

The findings of the study titled 'Business Process Outsourcing - Indian Landscape', conducted by the Everest Research Institute recently states that offshoring of business functions such as finance and accounting, customer service and human services of Indian suppliers are becoming increasingly mainstream and competitive in the global market, a release here today said.

The study analysed the entire BPO supplier landscape and identified 11 supppliers that are establishing themselves as a global player through cost efficency and process and industry expertise.

The companies recognised in the report as major offshore BPO contenders included major outsourcing BPO companies headquartered in India and have revenue greater than USD 100 million or more than 10 thousand employess. Additionally the study analysed five suppliers, who did not meet the criteria but have potential to join the group in the future.

''We are starting to see buyers engage in large, multi-process global deals with Indian suppliers based on the strong capabilities that these suppliers are developing in different areas,'' said ERI Research Director Sheetal Bahl.

This study also validated the capabilities and expertise of select Indian BPO suppliers, and suggested that the fortune 2000 companies should actievly consider offshoring their business on a larger scale to gain additional value, the release added.
