Factionist hacked to death

Kurnool, May 8 (UNI) One factionist and relative of the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) state leader B Nagi Reddy was hacked to death by a rival group near Injadu village of Uyyalawada mandal in Kurnool district today.

Police said the rivals, armed with sickles and other weapons, attacked Maddileti Reddy when he was entering the village on a two wheeler. He died on the spot.

Meanwhile, supporters of the slain factionist attacked the houses of Congress activists in Kanala, the home town of Reddy, and damaged their houses. They also set ablaze a tractor belonging to a local Congress leader.

Police said mild tension prevailed in the village. Additional forces were rushed to the village to maintain law and order.
