'Dead' criminal arrested

Kanpur, May 8 (UNI) A notorious criminal, who was proclaimed dead in police records, was arrested from Vidhnu area of Gadeva village here late last night, police today said.

According to police, his brother Pappu had committed suicide four years ago. However, the police and the courts were informed that Chandrabhan was dead.

Chandrabhan had already several warrants issued against him in criminal cases, which were recalled after his 'death'.

The criminal continued to rob people and commit offences in the meantime.

On a tip-off Chandrabhan was arrested, police added.

He is accused in about 18 criminal cases.
