Combing operations intensified on Andhra-Orissa border

Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, May 8 (UNI) Police today intensified combing operations and vehicle checks in the agency areas of Parvathipuram mandal in the district following Central Intelligence wing reports about the movement of CPI (Maoist) leaders.

Police sources said special police teams undertook intensive checks here as the town was located on the Andhra-Orissa border and following rumours that some Maoist leaders have crossed the border.

Police checked RTC buses, private vehicles, godowns and lodges and maintained a strict vigil on the movement of strangers.

''Following intelligence reports, we have intensified combing and search operations in the agency areas. We also have information that a few Maoist leaders have entered the border areas'', they said.
