Three dead due to rains in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, May 7 (UNI) Three people, including two school boys were killed and three others injured in two different incidents in Kolhapur district due to heavy rains.

Police sources today said that two school boys died and two others were injured, when a wall collapsed on them during the rains.

The deceased youths were identified as Subodh Hargapure and Rama Shinde (both 17) from Dundge in Gadinglaj tehsil.

In an another incident a 25-year-old youth was killed and another was injured, when a tin roof collapsed on them near MIDC Kagal, police sources said and added the dead person was identified as Vera Brahmam from Hyderabad.

All the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, police sources said.

Unseasaonal showers, accompanied by gusty winds lashed Kolhapur city and some parts of the district last afternoon for about 45 minutes.

Large number of trees were uprooted and and tin roofs were blown away. Hoardings and electricity wires were damaged which disrupted traffic on some roads and electricity supply was also disrupted for a long time.
