Sarkozy wins French presidential election-TV polls

PARIS, May 6 (Reuters) Conservative Nicolas Sarkozy won France's presidential election today, defeating Socialist Segolene Royal by a comfortable margin, according to television projections released after polling stations closed.

The forecasts by four pollsters gave Sarkozy a score of between 53.0 to 53.2 per cent, and Royal on between 46.8 to 47.0 per cent. Full official results were expected shortly after midnight.
