SAIL gets award

Kolkata, May 7 (UNI) Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) was today presented the Businessworld-FICCI-SEDF Corporate Social Responsibility Award, 2006 by President A P J Abdul Kalam at a function in New Delhi.

SAIL Chairman S K Roongta received the award from the President.

The award was conferred on the steel PSU for innovative social responsibility initiatives in various fields, including education, providing drinking water, medical and healthcare, sanitation, sustainable livelihood, environment and sports.

This was the first time that a public sector enterprise won the award since it was instituted in 1999, a company rlease said.
