PBMC warns building plan violators including Govt
Port Blair, May 7: The Port Blair Municipal Council(PBMC) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands today cautioned the Government and the NGOs against construction of any building without obtaining approval from the Council.
Failure to do so would attract drastic action under the Andaman and Nicobar Islands(Municipal) Regulation, PBMC Secretary Mohammed said.
He said approval of building plan within the municipal limit was necessary for obtaining water connection and other facilities.
The warning came in the wake of reports of violation of the regulation from different quarters.
It had been observed that the Government Departments and NGOs did not obtain mandatory approval prior to construction of any building in the Municipal area, he added.
Meanwhile, the PBMC has requested all concerned to get the building plan approved for construction of any building within the Municipal area, failing which action could be taken and no water connection or other facilities would be provided to such buildings.
The PBMC building by-laws are applicable to all owners of private and government bulidings, agencies, NGOs, service and co-operative societies and banks.
However, it had been observed that except the private tenants, no government or non-government agencies had obtained approval from the PBMC, Mr Mohammed informed.
