HAL hands over second Dhruv copter to ONGC
Bangalore, May 7 (UNI) Public sector aviation major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) handed over the second 'Dhruv' helicopter to Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) here on today.
This civil variant of Dhruv was configured with one stretcher and five seats. ONGC would soon be ferrying this helicopter to their facility in Nazira in Assam and would utilise it for casualty evacuation, passenger/commuter role and for undertaking underslung operations, a HAL release said here today.
The first Dhruv helicopter, acquired by ONGC in 2005, was currently being utilised for VIP commitments. HAL would be shortly delivering one more Dhruv helicopter to ONGC for operations ex-Mumbai. This helicopter would be configured for offshore operations and would be provided with rescue hoist for undertaking Search and Rescue (SAR) operations.
