Transport remains disrupted on NH 44
Agartala, May 6: Road transport in Tripura, South Asom, Mizoram and Manipur remained disrupted for the sixth consecutive day following the collapse of a bridge on NH 44 in Malidarah area, bordering Meghalaya.
The Border Road Task Force (BRTF) officials today said, despite hundreds of labourers repairing the bridge for the past five days, the road link had not been restored.
Several Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur-bound loaded trucks were on a standstill at Malidarah and the movement of Guwahati-bound passenger buses was also suspended on the highway.
Meanwhile, prices of essential commodities, especially onion and LPG cylinders had sky-rocketed in Tripura, despite the state government's assurance of sufficient stocks.
