Speeding truck crushes aged couple to death near Nagpur

Nagpur, May 6 (UNI) A speeding truck crushed an aged couple on their morning walk near Nagpur in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

According to the police, the couple, identified as Jagmohan Jaiswal (71) and Prabhadevi Jaiswal (65), was on a morning walk near their home in Saoner, about 40 kilometers from here, when an unidentified speeding truck coming from behind crushed them yesterday, injuring both seriously.

The two were rushed to a hospital in Nagpur, where they succumbed to their wounds later in the day, the police said.

The driver fled along with the truck immediately after the accident and has not yet been traced, they said. An offence has been registered and a search has been launched for the driver, they added.

Jagmohan Jaiswal and Prabhadevi Jaiswal were parents of Pawan Jaiswal, a former Chairman of Saoner Municipal Council.
