SEZ is risky, says CPI (ML) Liberation

Visakhapatnam, May 6 (UNI) CPI(ML) Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya today said the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act 2005 would jeopardise the nation's sovereignty, unity and integrity.

Speaking at a programme 'Meet the Press', organised by Vizag Journalists' Forum (VJF) here, he said, ''As hundreds of special' foreign territories' would come up all over the country, the nation's sovereignty would be at risk.'' The nationwide campaign against bauxite mining in the country started last month and collected opinions of people mainly in agency area's in states like Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Jharakhand and Andhra Pradesh while the girijans held intensive campaign in the agency areas.

''The campaign is aimed at sensitising people on the adverse impact of mining bauxite ore in the Eastern Ghats,'' he said.
