Sales Tax Joint Commissioner murder case: 3 in custody

Kanpur, May 6 (UNI) Three people were taken into custody in connection with the murder of Sales Tax Joint Commissioner Abhay Nath Singh.

On May 4, Mr Singh was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Balaji apartment in Nawabganj area.

Police Superintendent (east) Gulab Singh said three persons, including Mr Singh's chauffeur, peon and department official have been taken into custody and interrogation was on.

While Mr Singh was posted in Kanpur, his family resided in Lucknow.

The reason behind the crime is still unknown. Preliminary report said he was garrotted and further investigations are on.
