Rs 10,000 compensation to 4 dead and 34 injured in blast
Belgaum, Karnataka, May 6 (UNI) Karnataka Government today announced compensation of Rs 10,000 to four dead and 34 injured even as police registered cases against Riddhi Siddhi Factory CEO, Manager and Biochemist in connection with Friday blast.
Social Welfare Minister Balachandra Jharkiholi, who visited the injured in the hospital today, announced the compensation.
Police said that three cases were registered against Factory CEO, Manager Ajay Kumar Singh and Biochemist Prantik Das. Mr Singh and Mr Das were arrested on the charges of negligence.
In all, 34 people received burn injuries when an explosion took place in the maize starch plant that ripped off a major portion of the plant. The injured workers included 19 from other states including Gujarat, Rajasthan and Bihar, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Shankar Bidri visited the plant and the injured in the hospital.
