Powerful blast rocks Guwahati, four hurt

Guwahati, May 6: At least four people were seriously injured when suspected ULFA militants triggered a blast in the busy Fancy Bazar area here today.

Police said an IED, planted by ULFA militants in a motorcycle, went off near the Sani Mandir area of Fancy Bazaar at about 1815 hours.

Preliminary reports said at least four people were seriously injured in the blast.

All were rushed to hospital.

Casualty figure would have gone up, had it not been a Sunday.

Senior police officials had rushed to the spot.

Details are awaited.
