Kumaraswamy asks KSOU to regularise 220 temporary employees

Mysore, May 6 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today asked the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Vice Chancellor to regularise 220 temporary employees who were on an indefinite strike and asked them to join duty from tomorrow.

Taking a serious note of temporary employees continuing their 18- month long agitation, he reacted to the University authorities, who had advertised calling application for the posts.

The Chief Minister ''took to task'' Vice-Chancellor Prof K Sudha Rao, who in turn blamed Higher Education Department Secretary and the University Registrar as responsible.

When Mr Kumaraswamy immediately contacted the official concerned in the department, the official replied that the issue rested entirely with the Vice-Chancellor.

Mr Kumaraswamy asked the agitating workers to resume to work from tomorrow and '' lock University office if Vice-Chancellor prevents them.'' The Chief Minister's visit to the KSOU was prompted by an advertisement calling for application for temporary post.
