Mumbai, May 6 (UNI) In consonance with the orders passed by a Haridwar court last month to attach properties of noted painter M F Hussain, the Cuffe Parade police has affixed notices at the his residence here in this regard.

The court, while declaring the painter as a proclaimed offender, had passed the order following a case filed against Hussain by a lawyer Arvind Srivastav in Haridwar in 2005 in connection with his two paintings--Bharat Mata and Krishna.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Brijesh Singh confirmed the report that the Cuffe Parade police have received property attachment orders from the Haridwar court. They have pasted the notice at the painter's residence, he told UNI.

Hussain owns a first-floor apartment in Jolly Makers-III building in Cuffe Parade. The apartment is currently occupied by his son, Shafat Husain. None of his family members were available for the comment.
