Film directors felicitated

Hyderabad, May 6 (UNI) One hundred and forty eight film directors were felicitated today to mark the 61st birthday of Minister of State for Coal and Guinness record holder Dasari Narayana Rao, who had directed 148 films.

Dr Rao had celebrated his birthday yesterday amidst much fanfare.

Those who falicitated today included C V Ranganath Das who directed 'Dasi' in 1952, K B Tilak ('Muddubidda'-1956) V Madhusudhana Rao ('Sati Tulasi'-1959), Puranam Subrahmaniam ('Dorikite Dongalu'-1965) K S R Das ('Loguttu Perumallukeruka-1966), Dr K Viswanath ('Atma Gouravam' 1966) and Dr Bapu ('Sakhshi'-1967).

The felicitation was accorded to those who directed films during 1952-2007. The latest to get the award is Puvvada Hemant Kumar who directed 'Prem' in 2007.

Dr Rao presented an award of Rs one lakh to Bhaskar whose first film 'Bommarillu' was a super hit.

Assistance was extended to 10 film directors who are in a financial crunch and scholarships were provided to poor students.
