Driver killed in accident

Tirupati, May 6 (UNI) A driver was burnt alive when the lorry caught fire after overturning on Bangalore-Tirupati bypass near here today.

Police said the mishap occurred when the tyre-laden lorry proceeding to Vijayawada from Coimbator, caught fire after its fuel tank developed cracks causing fuel leakage.

The cleaner escaped with simple injuries.

The deceased is identified as Manohar (40), hailing from Katpadi in Tamil Nadu.

Tyres worth about Rs 10 lakh were totally damaged.
