Coalition govt will complete full term: CM

Mysore, May 6 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today expressed hope that Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition government would complete its full term.

Alleging the opposition were spreading rumours about stability of the coalition government, he said ''the coalition government is stable and the transfer of Chief Ministership to BJP will be a smooth affair.'' Speaking after inaugurating Rs 12.6 crore Melapura Stage-II Drinking Water Project near here, he said the government's main concern at present was development.

Stating that the coalition government has been striving to uplift the poor and downtrodden by introducing various welfare schemes, Mr Kumaraswamy said his stay in the village was one among the programmes undertaken to learn about the actual problems of rural people and to take steps for solving them immediately.

Referring to the loan waiver, he said the government had fulfilled its committment and appealed to farmers not to commit suicide, but to take advantage of welfare schemes and improve their living condition.

Stating that the coalition government was committed to come to the rescue of sugarcane farmers, he urged the farmers in the river Cauvery belt to take their cane to the sugar factory in Ramanagaram constituency.

''Your sugarcane will be purchased and you will also get a subsidy of Rs 150 per tonne'', he added.
