Aruna Irani's 'Doli Saja ke Rakhna' to be aired on SaharaOne

New Delhi, May 6 (UNI) After a deluge of TV soaps based on 'saas-bahus' it is now the turn of 'betis'(daughters).

Cashing in on this trend is none other than Aroona Irani, who is coming up with a new serial 'Doli Saja ke Rakhna' on SaharaOne.

''It is the story of a daughter who struggles to gain the love of her father, after her mother dies during her birth as a result of which he starts blaming the newborn for his wife's death and subsequently starts treating her as unlucky,'' Ms Irani said.

''The purpose of the serial is not just entertainment, it is an attempt to change the orthodox mindset of people as even today daughters are considered a bad omen,'' the producer told UNI.

''I feel very lucky that I got the oppourtunity to work with Aruna Ji in 'Doli...', she is the guiding force behind this serial,'' Barkha Bisht, who plays the protagonist in the soap said.

''We have put in the hardiwork but whether it pays dividends or not would be decided by the audience,'' she added.

Amit Sareen, who plays the male lead in the show seconded Barkha and said viewers will surely enjoy it.

The cast of 'Doli...' also includes, Anuj Saxena, Jaya Mathur among others.

The serial, which will go on air from May 7, will initially have around 206 episodes.
